I was in Shanghai with GRY for the RISC V conference, went to talk to some friends, I was exhausted, landed on the day at 3 AM (the plane was delayed for 4 hours),arrive at hotel 4 something, woke up at 9 for the conference, it was horrible. I’m never taking that flight again.
Even worse, Hilton- the hotel closest to the conference Hall is fully booked, so I had to stay in a hotel 10 mins away which was disgustingly damp, the toilet paper and duvet felt wet. Not even slightly damp, it felt like it was soaked in water and drying off that kind of damp. The second day when I immediately switched to Hilton when I woke up. GRY came in the afternoon while I was catching up with some friends. He went wonder around and got a free tshirt, ngl it’s good quality tshirt. He came to join our conversation with Tenstorrent, with another guy from Edinburg (previously Intel, lay off, so went to do a PhD).
We went back to the hotel, I did more work (bc the ddl is in 90 days), he suggested to go to the cinema, we went to have dinner then watched a film about Lang Lang, it’s good, I always liked Jiang Wen, he’s a genius, he’s funny and a great story teller. He’s got to be one of the greatest director of this era.
I haven’t watched a movie, or fully relaxed, not thinking about work, since March or something. So that was nice. We went back, I did tiny bit of work, he came to check, I farted, it was really smelly,
did you farted? He asked.
Yes. I said.
He walked away. I laughed.
I told HHZ my fart drove away GRY. He sent a crying face saying he wants to be in Shanghai as well.
Later at night when we were in beds, we start to chat about random stuff. He talked about his ex and ex ex gf, ngl I’ve listened to it so many times I already have the conclusion he doesn’t love his ex and it’s a waste of time even think about it (and he definitely wasted her time and energy) he still misses his ex ex deeply.
I didn’t wanted to share too much with him because my love story felt pathetic.
Finished the second day. Going back to my tiny flat.
