I finished meeting a VC the previous day. They claim to invested some of the most famous unicorns in China. The guy said our stuff is too early stage. (Implying they won’t invest) They added my WeChat. I feel indifferent about the whole thing. The whole pitch thing. After everything I’ve been through.

I’m moving forward whether they are in or not.

I went to visit the actor at work. I’m seriously curious what a TV set looks like.

The second director went to pick me up at the gate. I normally won’t have time to pick up people at the gate. He said.

He said it in a way to imply he’s important.

Thank you. I said politely.

Everything was surprisingly big. First time I realise those productions and scenes are build in those tall big factory like buildings.

Wow. This is the first time I saw those stuff. I said.

You are not from this industry? He asked.

No. I said.

When I arrived there were 2 actresses outside. One of them looked me from head to toes a few times. I looked back curiously.

Then I saw the actor, he waved. He’s way taller than I remembered. I’m pretty sure I’m at his chest height. He looked excited.

You look very business-y. he said.

Yeah because I was in the area for business. I thought.

We chitchat for a while. I watched how they film.

The actor told me he wants to be an actor because this vocation is exciting, you can experience many different jobs and lives etc etc.

This is absolutely bullshit. What life can you experience by reciting the same lines for 20 times for every scene?

We ate some snacks I bought and gave some to the twins on the set.

He seems to like children.

Aren’t they cute. He said.

I giggled. Although I don’t find them cute. I like men that like children. I find the whole children situation a bit like cats, I feel nothing for other people’s cats, I give 0 fuck and occasionally find them annoying, but I’ll give stem cell the best I can afford because it’s my cat.

I was there for like an hour or something then I have a meeting, so I had to go back to the hotel. Then I received a message I got another. I finished the meetings, went back to set.

I talked to him briefly then I need to deal with some stuff again so I sat outside to work more, he came out to talk to me for 2 sentences then called back to filming.

When they finished work- I was still working, he told me to get a taxi because there wasn’t an extra car for the set. My head is still on work so I called a taxi quickly with the app, not realising the pin was wrong, the driver called bc he couldn’t find the place.

The actor has a very short temper. I thought I had a short temper(and a big one) but he was impatient and rude dealing with the situation.

The set gave me a lift to the gate, in the squeezed seat he asked what my travels plans are, I told him, I knew everyone in the car was listening, and this is exactly what he wanted. This is probably where I come useful- some rich or potentially going to be rich girl who’s his friend. Tomorrow everyone on the set would know he has a friend who makes chips. (Although I’m currently broke af)

Ask your investors to come to set. He said.

They are tech investors. I said.

Oh it doesn’t matter. He said. Come have fun.

I didn’t say anything. My investors? They are the least possible person that would meet him. They are male, 40-65, none as good looking as him, and only care about money. My investors are looking to see me work hard, none sleep, wholeheartedly on making them rich. Be the next unicorn. Fuck American chips. He’s like the ‘distraction’. Mingling with actors are for people who already have money and spear time- I have neither.

I got back and told a friend I went to the set again after the meeting.

He must think you are really obsessed with him. She said.

All men think so. I said.

Sometimes I wonder if there’s something wrong with me. Is it me? Am I the problem?

I’m most likely not going to visit such a place again. I have no interest in travelling so far to visit film sets for personal reasons for a second time. I want to make the most of it. I said.

That’s logically. She said. But he might see it differently.
