Couldn’t sleep, start to listen to journey to the west again

Had a brief discussion with HHZ about Islamic architecture. I love Islamic architecture. They use a lot of geometry. Will visit all the grand mosque if I can!

Some very interesting stuff I watched at tea time.

Qianlong, a Qing emperor, loved his wife very much, the death of his wife not only changed his personality and personal life, from a kind and gentle person, a romantic who wrote hundreds of poems to his wife, to a fuckboy and cruel murderer, but also drastically changed his style of governance. His bad mood caused death of hundreds, exile of thousands the year she died and later 30 years of iron fist. He hated his next wife, who was appointed by his mother, treated her badly, wiped her image from history and never had another wife.

His servant documented his odd behaviours such as repeatedly forgot what he meant to do or say, pacing towards his wife’s chamber (he kept it after her death) and sit inside all night.

He reviewed his thoughts about his father and his own past rule, started a bloody anti corruption campaign, followed by the tight anti corruption control not only to his ministers and civil servant, but also to the royal family and royal relatives.

I feel like people always do this tho, when they are happy they treat everyone with grace and mercy, when they are in grief they punish other people for the big hole they have inside. Good relationships are very important. Not die is also very important 😂.
